A Heartfelt Thank You

Dearest Sisters,

An enormous thank you to all who contributed to our October opening social, Stitched with Love! We were tremendously successful, sewing 58 receiving blankets to help local moms in need. Thanks to each of you for your willingness to serve - for donating sewing machines, contributing to the dinner, sorting and preparing fabrics, sewing, rolling and tying blankets, and cleaning up the annex. Thank you all!

With much love,
The Enrichment Committee

Park Day on Friday October 9

This Friday, Park Day is hitting the road! Join us at the pumpkin patch for some autumn fun!

Date: Friday, October 9
Time: Plan on leaving between 10 - 10:30 - it's about a 40 minute drive
Where: Arata Pumpkin Farm, Half Moon Bay http://www.aratapumpkinfarm.com/index.html

This pumpkin farm is a little further than others in Half Moon Bay, but it's less crowded, quaint, has TONS to do and you get to see the ocean. It's worth the extra 10 minutes in the car for sure!

Pack a lunch and bring cash to buy pumpkins/pony rides/etc.

October Enrichment Night: Stitched with Love

Our October Enrichment Night is one to look forward to! As we have new students and members move into the ward, it's always a fun time of year to regroup and get to know one another. Please join us for dinner and lots of time to socialize!

In addition to a fun evening of spending time together, we will also be doing a service project. We will be making baby blankets for Project Warm Hug, which will support local single moms in need. We will be providing materials to make blankets, but you are also more than welcome to make blankets on your own with fabric of your choosing. We will have sewing machines at the activity for sewing, but feel free to make blankets on your own time as well. Let's see how many blankets we can make for this wonderful organization, whom we sewed scarves and hats for years ago! It's a great chance to serve some of our sisters in the community!

Next How-To Thursday: Adorable Hooded Towels!

Our next How-To Thursday is coming up fast! Join us on Thursday, Sept 24, 7:30 pm at the church! Brittney Archibald will be teaching us how to make Adorable Hooded Towels! We thought we'd do a quick blog post about the project so you have all the information you need to make the best hooded towels around!

Click here to see Brittney's latest hooded towel creation...and click here for more animal hooded towel inspiration!

To make one plain hooded towel, please bring with you:
- 1 towel
- 1 coordinating washcloth
- If the color is "crazy" - bring coordinating thread as well

The washcloth makes the hood part, so, the bigger the washcloth, the bigger the hood will be. A regular washcloth fits well for a toddler and/or baby. A hand towel may be better for bigger kids.

If you want to make the towel look like an animal, please bring EXTRA washcloths/hand towels in the coordinating colors. For example: A green dragon with orange spikes needs- 1 dark green towel, 2 dark green washcloths, 1 orange hand towel or 2 orange wash clothes. A simple-version duck will need - 1 yellow towel, 1 yellow washcloth, and 1 orange washcloth (and a white washcloth if you want eyes on the hood).

Please feel free to contact Brittney Archibald directly if you need help figuring out supplies and patterns. She is happy to work with people ahead of time!

We also need people to bring sewing machines/thread/pins/scissors...if you have any of these supplies and are willing to share on Sept 24, please let Brittney know!

See you on the 24th, towels in hand!
