Free Craft Projects

Angela Haight is working on her spring cleaning and found some unfinished projects that should go to a good home:

2 quilt kits (one red, white and blue; the other beige, brown and blue)
a sports themed afghan to crochet
several Christmas themed kits to do in quick point
several miscellaneous craft kits

Items are free for anyone who wants them. Email me or Angela if you want more info.

That delicious Marinade

Remember that wonderful Christmas Grilled Tri Tip dinner? If you want to experience that meat again in your own home here's the marinade recipe. (This makes a LOT, Sherri halves the recipe when making it at home, also feel free not to use as much garlic.)
1 cup lemon juice
1 cup soybean oil (or vegetable oil)
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup black pepper (can adjust if you don't want it as spicy)
1/2 cup garlic salt (recommended: Lawry's)
1/2 cup chopped garlic
1/2 cup chopped dried onions (or fresh)
3 (4-pound) tri-tips, trimmed (you can use chicken, beef or pork...not just tri-tip

To make the marinade, mix all of the ingredients except for the beef in a large mixing bowl. Place the trimmed tri-tips in a plastic container and pour the marinade over. Let stand in the refrigerator for at least 6 hours (or I do overnight).
Enjoy!

FABMO

FYI:

Hello, Friends! Happy New Year!
It’s time for the first Fabrix distribution of 2009! These fabrics are beautiful, discontinued samples from the design community in San Francisco which we gather weekly. They range in size from smallish squares to “wings” – pieces that can be more than a yard in size, and in content from silk to cotton, linen, woolen, synthetic blends, etc. The variety includes sheers to upholstery weight. They are perfect for all manner of projects: quilts, tote bags, wearable items, table linens, ornaments, etc.

You are invited to make an appointment to come select treasures. Times are available from 9am to 6pm each day, Thursday (Jan 8) through Saturday (Jan 10). We require appointments for your visit so we can manage the size and dynamic of the crowd. 4-8 folks at a time give a great experience for everyone. There is still time to assist in making this a success, especially in greeting and orienting our guests, straightening and restocking piles, etc. If you can extend your appointment a bit and use the extra time to take care of others, that’s wonderful. (If this works for you, please let us know your plan.)

Please let us know your BEST time to attend, how many people will be with you, and if you have flexibility in your time. We’ll do our best to accommodate your first choice of day/time, and will respond with email confirming your appointment and the location of the event.
Please remember that these samples cannot be sold “as is”. However, if you incorporate them into a project, that limitation disappears. We’re particularly partial to projects that benefit churches, schools, or other non-profits, though personal initiative is also welcome.
There is no cost to you to attend. You may gather as much as you will realistically use. If you feel so inclined, you may wish to make a contribution against costs.

Jonathan & Hannah

For an appointment, you can email Hannah or Jonathan at fabrix [at] fabmo [dot] com.

Once there was a snowman. . .

This year's Christmas party was a great success; the highlight, of course, being the snowman skit. Many thanks to all those that put in their blood, sweat and tears to make it a huge hit. Also, thanks to Jane for editing the video!

If you're interested in a higher-res DVD version, send a blank DVD Jane's way.
